From the New Ulm Journal
Nicollet 33, JWP 30
JANESVILLE - Nicollet's Dalton Elliott was big on both sides of the ball, leading the Raiders to a Southern Confederacy football win Friday night over Janesville-Waldorf-Pemberton.
Elliott passed for 177 yards and threw for two touchdowns. He also rushed 37 times for 284 yards and 2 touchdowns, he accounted for 461 yards of total offense. The Raiders amassed 555 yards of total offense for the game.
Evan Guffey had four catches for 89 yards and two touchdowns. Lucas Gens also recovered a fumble in the end zone for the Raiders.
Defensively, Elliott had nine tackles and Matt Christenson had seven tackles. Guffey and Tanner Elliott also had nine tackles each. Kenny Fischer had an interception, including one late in the game when the Bulldogs were driving and the Raiders were able to run out the clock. Jay Hendrycks also picked off two passes.
Nicollet (6-0) hosts Truman/Granada-Huntley-East Chain on Friday.
6 - 0 Big win on a COLD and WINDY night.
Temps were in the upper 30's, but the wind was in the upper 20 mph range. Trailing 22 - 21 at the half after some poor special teams play and a couple of big plays by the bulldogs meant the Raiders had some work to do in the 2nd half. Driving 70+ yards on the 1st possession of the 2nd half, Dalton threw one to the front corner of the end zone on 4th down with a full out blitz in his face and the WR hauled in the TD and the Raiders held the lead the rest of the 2nd half. Tanner went out after the next offensive series with a stinger and Dalton took over the running to eat the clock. Tanner didn't play the final 19 minutes, and still was tied for the lead in tackles for the game.
Great win and Senior night at Nicollet next Friday night as we take on the GHEC/T Jaguars.
