Nicollet stomps Randolph 48-8
October 27, 2013
NICOLLET - Nicollet punched its ticket to yet another Section 2 9-Man football championship game with its 48-8 victory against Randolph in the semifinals. Nicollet (10-0, 8-0 Southern Confederacy Conference) will host Madelia in the section championship game on Friday.
The Raiders scored on their first offensive play from scrimmage when quarterback Dalton Elliott found Matt Christensen for a 65-yard touchdown pass to take an early lead.
"Our offense has just been rocking it all year," Elliott said. "With what we run and how well we are coached, we just execute and away we go."

Nicollet scored twice more in the first quarter on a 45-yard run by Christensen and an 18-yard run by Elliott.
Elliot used his legs to find the end zone again on a 39-yard touchdown run midway through the second quarter.
The Raiders' defense dominated the line of scrimmage the entire game, and they were able to take a shutout midway into the fourth quarter.
"Our defensive line played outstanding tonight," Elliott said. "They really just went out and ate everything up."
Jay Hendrycks was able to score from the defensive side of the football when he jumped a Randolph route and took the ball back 30 yards for a touchdown. Matt Fischer's extra point gave Nicollet a 35-0 lead going in to the half.
Randolph (2-8, 1-7) was finally able to slow down the dynamic Nicollet offense at the beginning of the second half forcing turnovers on each of the Raiders' first three drives.
"I'm going to go ahead and take responsibility for those turnovers, but I'm just going to forget about them and keep working hard," Elliott said.
Nicollet reestablished its running game on the next drive, however, and Elliott capped off a 68-yard drive a 4-yard touchdown run.
Christensen found the end zone one more time early in the fourth quarter on a 2-yard run, and Matt Fischer's extra point was the Raider's 48th and final point.
Randolph thwarted the Raider's shutout attempt with a 30-yard touchdown pass, and it was able to punch in the 2-point conversion to make the final score 48-8.
Elliott was 15-for-24 passing for 235 yards and one touchdown. Elliott added 186 yards on the ground on 25 carries.
Christensen had nine carries for 91 yards and two touchdowns to go with his three catches for 94 yards and a touchdown.
Colin Bloemke led the Raiders' defense with 15 tackles, while Christensen added 14 tackles.
